Shooting The Aston DB5 Makes You Feel Like 007

Back in late Spring I made a pleasant (if all-too-short) trip back to Highway 1, California. This is the famous PCH and the San Francisco - Monterey section we drove is one of its best parts. I was there to photograph journalist Jason Harper driving an Aston Martin DB5 to Pebble Beach. Aston is the ‘Featured Marque’ at this years Concours (Pebble Beach Concours) and the story published in Automobile Magazine this month is in celebration of this.

We met the owner of the DB5, Guy Simpson (a fellow Brit!) at Alice’s Restaurant and this local-area knowledge lead us to some exceptional driving roads like the one below.

The iconic James Bond movie ‘Goldfinger’ - which featured a DB5 - is 50 years old next year and so was Guy’s car. However the drivability has not diminished at all. You find yourself whistling the James Bond theme and throwing the car into corners like a secret agent on a mission. So much fun I almost forgot to mention we also traveled in new Aston DB9. What a pair! You can see them together below - But check out the full story in the August issue (Automobile Magazine)……
